![]() Assistance Programs ![]() U.S. Embassy Kyiv provides a variety of assistance in the form of training, consultations, and grants. Brief information on each of the Embassy's sections and/or agencies that works in these areas is listed below. Please visit each section/agency's page for further information. Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) The Foreign Agricultural Service in Kyiv represents the interests of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Ukraine.? The mission of FAS-Kyiv is to represent these interests while promoting and facilitating the trade of United States agricultural products in Ukraine. US Comercial Service The Foreign Commercial Service in Kyiv is concerned with issues involving business information, marketing for U.S. and Ukrainian firms, and business development programs. Peace Corps The Peace Corps was invited to send business volunteers to Ukraine in 1992, shortly after independence. Today, approximately 170 volunteers are working on various business, education, community development, and environmental projects throughout the country. Over six hundred volunteers have served in Ukraine since 1992. Public Affairs Section (PAS) The Public Affairs Section was known until recently (October 1999) as the United States Information Service (USIS). Since that time, the United States Information Agency (USIA) merged with the State Department, and we are known locally as the Public Affairs Section (PAS).? We administer academic and professional exchanges, such as the Fulbright Program and the International Visitor Program.?Our section also is responsible for organizing cultural events, such as the recent Andy Warhol Art Exhibition. Resident Legal Adviser (RLA) The Resident Legal Adviser's Office provides information on legal issues regarding U.S. - Ukraine cooperation and activities against international crime. USAID (United States Agency for International Development) Since 1992, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission to Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova has been working to assist the region in its transition to a broad-based, market-oriented democracy.? While each of these countries' developmental challenges are unique, the Mission's programs are broadly focused on the areas of democracy and governance, economic growth, and social assistance. |
