Overview

The Public Affairs Section oversees a wide-ranging program of academic and professional exchanges funded by the U.S. Department of State. These include the Fulbright Program and the International Visitor Program, as well as programs for students, teachers, university lecturers and younger professionals in a variety of fields. This section also is also responsible for handling the Embassy's relations with Ukrainian and international media (officials statements, press conferences, interviews, etc.) In addition, PAS administers programs of small grants to assist Ukraine's democratic and market transition, including the Democracy Grants Program, the Media Development Fund, and the Library Electronic Access Project.

Academic Exchanges

The Academic Exchanges Office of the Public Affairs Section coordinates and provides information on U.S. Academic Exchange Programs for Ukrainian students, teachers, professors, and researchers primarily in the social sciences and humanities. Information (including applications) on U.S. Government-sponsored programs is available at the administering organizations and advising centers. Individual and group consultations are conducted by educational advisers at Educational Advising and "Osvita" Centers throughout Ukraine.

Professional Exchanges

Our professional programs send established and "up and coming" Ukraininan professionals to the United States to confer with their counterparts to discuss issues of mutual interest.
